What is a labiaplasty?

A labiaplasty is a way to transform your vagina by adjusting the length of your labia minora. When your labia minora are too long, they can cause problems for you throughout the day, including the sensation that they’re being pulled or twisted. This can cause itching and irritation in an area where comfort is of the utmost importance. This vaginal plastic surgery can increase your comfort and confidence.

On top of that, long labia minora can affect the appearance of your vagina. If you want a way to refresh and rejuvenate yourself, this cosmetic procedure can help.

Dr. Clark has two board certifications that support his expertise in labiaplasties. Not only is he a board-certified OB/GYN, but he also holds a board certification in the specialized field of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.

What happens during a labiaplasty?

Because your labia are outside your body, this procedure is significantly less invasive than other types of surgeries. During a labiaplasty, Dr. Clark removes excess skin from the labia majora, labia minora, clitoral hood, and/or tissue from the perineum.

Generally, swelling and pain after the procedure can be managed with ice packs and over-the-counter pain medications. Many women choose to take a week off work, so they can recuperate comfortably at home. You’ll be able to resume all your usual activities — including sexual intercourse — within six weeks of your labiaplasty.

Is a labiaplasty right for me?

If you have questions about this procedure, Dr. Clark and his dedicated team are available to answer them. It can be helpful to know that the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reports that over 90% of women who choose to have a labiaplasty say they’re satisfied with the results of their procedure.

Additionally, to help you decide if a labiaplasty is right for you, The Clark Center for Urogynecology has “before and after” photos you can see. They do not publish these photos to their website to protect their patients’ privacy, but they have permission to share these photos with women who are interested in getting a labiaplasty themselves. Their goal is to help you make an informed decision for your body and your aesthetic goals.
