The Exciting World of Sacral Neuromodulation

Sacral neuromodulation is indicated for patients experiencing urinary and fecal dysfunction who have failed conservative therapies such as lifestyle modifications, physical therapy, and medications.  Through the use of small electrical pulses, messages traveling between pelvic nerves and the brain are modified to gain better control of bladder and bowel function.

An exciting addition to the field of neuromodulation, the Axonics System, is a promising new device whose main advantages over the older class of impulse generators include its wireless rechargeable battery, small size, and ability to undergo MRI.
